Evaluation (Part 3)


How effective is your combination of main product + ancillary text?

I think the package as a whole stands out when compared to other similar products as it's not often magazines advertise a music dvd when they usually concentrate on the single it's self. We also feel it's appropriate timing due to the death of Michael jackson, and we see it as a tribute to celebrate his life.

When explaining the target audience we wanted to take a 70's track and relate it to a younger, and possibly a less familiar audience. Although after doing our audience research it appears the song is already widely known within teenagers today, and therefore it's just a combination of 3 converged products which includes an advertisement, a digi-pack and a music video.

Throughout my research initially for the video I decided to look if there was any synergy for products which relate to Jackson 5, and i found there are many compilation albums which include all of Jackson 5's greatest hits, and there are also posters available from various stores and internet sites. Jackson 5 are widely in the media as individuals at the moment due to Michael's death, and this is also a reminder of Jackson 5 and a marketing technique when selling products which relate to the 70's band, and this is one of the main reasons why we decided to use Jackson 5's song for our video.
